Trust Leather Baby Pelham
The Trust Leather Baby Pelham uses a reinforced flexible nylon core, with naturally tanned leather around the mouth piece. The leather encourages the horse to salivate, as it also taste nicer than some plastics and metals. As a result, the salivation softens the leather mouthpiece even more, which makes the bit kinder in the horses mouth.
Thankfully as the bit softens, it make the Trust Leather Baby Pelham a suitable bit for horses with a sensitive mouth.
As mentioned previously, the core of the bit is made of reinforced nylon. The leather that is stitched around this core, is naturally tanned without chemicals. As a result the bit is safe for horses and humans. The saliva production softens the leather bit and makes it more pleasant in the horses mouth
The Trust Leather Pelham has attachments for two reins, although, you can use with one set of reins. If you are using one set of reins, you will need a set of Pelham Roundings found here.
The shorter shanks of the Baby Pelham also prevent the bit being pulled sideways through the mouth and provide a lesser action than that of a normal pelham. The shanks of a pelham therefore acts as a guide and is a great way of steering the horses head.
For stronger horses, that like a leather mouthpiece, check out the Leather Combination Hackamore which also uses pressure on the nose for a horse that runs with this head up high. We also stock the very popular Inno Sense Combination Hackamore.
The Trust Leather Pelham is supplied with a curb chain.
